“Be it unto me”

How well I remember sitting that next morning in my quiet living room by the light of the Christmas tree and turning to the Scripture that this song is taken from. What comfort I found in Mary’s words when the angel visited her with her own surprising news that she, too, was with child. “Be it unto me according to Your word,” was her reply. “For with God, nothing is impossible.”

I felt my spirit lift and my heart quiet within me as I read those words spoken so long ago, and my soul echoed with her, “Be it unto me according to Your word.”

Now, four years later, he’s here. And we say as one, “Thank You, Heavenly Father. You knew just what You were doing.”

What hard and impossible thing are you facing this Christmas time? Whatever it is, you can place it in His hands, letting it go and leaving it entirely to Him. He is faithful to do what He’s promised, and He will “perfect that which concerneth thee.”

Peace will come – I promise – when your heart can finally say, “Be it unto me according to Your word.” For after all, “nothing is impossible with God.”
